Our Commitment to Child Safety
At Eden Academy, the safety, rights and best interests of every child are the paramount consideration in everything we do. We are committed to creating safe, supportive, and inclusive environments, where all children, regardless of background, identity, ability, or culture, can learn, grow, and thrive.
We take this responsibility seriously at every level of our organisation, from leadership and governance through to everyday practice. We believe children have the right to be heard. We actively support children to understand their rights, participate in decisions that affect them, and speak up if they ever feel unsafe.
Safety is more than physical. True safety for a child encompasses physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cultural dimensions, including the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
We continuously review and improve our practices in alignment with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and the National Quality Framework, going beyond compliance to a genuine culture of care. Together with children, families, and community, we ensure every child has a safe and nurturing place to flourish.

What happens if a concern or allegation is raised at an Eden Academy centre?
The safety of every child is our first priority, and we take all concerns seriously — no matter how minor they may seem. If a concern or allegation is raised, the Centre Manager will be notified immediately. Under national law, any allegation involving physical or sexual abuse must be reported to the relevant regulatory authority within 24 hours. We also have internal escalation processes that ensure concerns are acted on the same day they are raised. Where it is appropriate and safe to do so, we will keep the families involved informed throughout the process. All concerns are documented and reviewed as part of our ongoing child safety practices.
If you have a concern, please speak with your Centre Manager in the first instance, or contact the Centre’s Operations Manager. You can also contact your state’s regulatory authority at any time.
Are educators allowed to use their personal phones around my child?
No. Under national law introduced in 2025, educators and staff are prohibited from using personal mobile devices when working directly with children in centre-based care. This applies to all Eden Academy centres. Where photographs or videos of children are needed for documentation, learning journals or communication with families, only service-issued devices are used, in line with our digital safety policy and with family consent.
How do I raise a concern about my child's safety or wellbeing?
We encourage families to speak up whenever something doesn’t feel right. You don’t need to be certain — if you have a worry, we want to hear it.
You can raise a concern in the following ways:
- Speak directly with your Centre Manager — in person, by phone, or by email.
- Contact the Centre’s Operations Manager (details can be found in Centre).
- Submit a concern in writing through our feedback and complaints process, available at every centre.
- Contact your state’s early childhood regulatory authority directly if you prefer to raise a concern externally.
All concerns are treated confidentially, documented, and responded to promptly. We are committed to keeping you informed of the outcome.

Photos and videos are only ever taken on Eden Academy devices, never personal phones.

Media is used only in line with your permissions, and children’s full names are never published.
Event Photography
Families enjoy the moment while Eden documents events safely through our own platforms.

Child Protection Procedure Policy
How to Report Child Safety Concerns
Educators must follow their legal obligations as mandatory reporters. If you believe, on reasonable grounds, that a child is at risk of significant harm, you are required to report it to the relevant Child Protection authority.
Failing to report is a breach of the law and puts children at serious risk.
Hotline Reporting
- NSW: Child Protection Helpline 132 111 (available 24 hours/7 days a week).
- QLD: During normal business hours – contact the Regional Intake Service. After hours and on weekends – contact the Child Safety After Hours Service Centre on 1800 177 135. The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- SA: Child Abuse Report Line (CARL) 13 14 78 (The report line is available 24 hours a day)
- VIC: After Hours Child Protection Emergency Serviceon 13 12 78 or Follow the Link to find LGAs covered by each intake service.
Online Reporting
- NSW: Mandatory Reporter Guide (MRG) – Website

- VIC: In Victoria, reports to child protection must be made to a protective intervener, or other appropriately delegated officer. Reports cannot be made via the department’s website or email. To make a report, you should contact the child protection intake service covering the local government area (LGA) where the child normally resides. – Website
